A story spanning over 120 years, a hardworking family, the ancient history of generous lands, a small and lively inn where people gathered to enjoy simple dishes from the farming tradition, work in the fields, an instinct for good things, a woman — Generosa — and her Liqueur.
It is in this tapestry that Distilleria NUMA has its roots — a company owned by the Pusceddu family, intrinsically tied to the land of Tarquinia, a city that gave Rome four of its Kings: Tarquinius Priscus, Tarquinius Superbus, Servius Tullius, and NUMA Pompilius — in the province of Viterbo, whose countryside was already cultivated in ancient times by the Etruscan people.
Generosa’s Liqueur, offered at the end of meals, began to win over the tastes of locals and visitors alike, becoming part of the territory’s tradition — but it was eventually lost to legend, until Mario and Gianfranco Pusceddu, descendants of Generosa, rediscovered its memory in the mid-1990s. It was then that the two brothers, already active in the family agritourism business, founded a liqueur distillery together, recreating with modern techniques the ancient flavors born from the blend of herbs grown in the Marta Valley, on those same lands once cultivated by the ancient Etruscans.
Today, the nuances of Generosa’s Liqueur live on in the Amaro Tarquinia, one of Distilleria NUMA’s flagship products. Alongside it are many other products, such as the multi-award-winning NUMA brandy, as well as grappas, gins, and distillates.
All products united by a passion for what is good — the very same passion that for over 120 years has driven us every day to improve, in order to offer flavors worth remembering.
