Gusto di Tuscia is a line of honey from the Apifarm beekeeping company, which operates in the Tuscia area from the lower Maremma to the Cimini mountains.
The creation of this line, under the Tuscia Viterbese brand, was created to enhance the rich biodiversity naturally present in the territory.
Great-grandfather Antonino Porcelli began to move the first hives in the early 1900s.
Today Dr. Giuseppe A. Porcelli, now in the third generation of beekeepers, is animated by
the same passion for this magnificent insect: the bee.
Apifarm holds about 600 beehives, located throughout the province, from which at the end
of each season it collects over ten varieties of honey.
We are a nomadic beekeeping company: we practice a type of beekeeping that involves moving the hives at night. During the night it is in fact possible to ensure safe movement since the bees are inside the hive and there is also a cooler external climate for transporting them from one area to another.
Why do we do it?
This method allows the bees to concentrate on a specific flowering and then obtain a monofloral honey of extreme organoleptic quality. At the same time, the beekeeper must
research almost every year areas that are always optimal for the settlement of bees and ensure the healthiness of the surrounding environment within the range of action of the
apiary for the health and good performance of the family.
