Young, independent and organic: since 2003 these are the three words guiding our work at the Trebotti winefarm. Our enterprise was born from the willpower of the three Botti siblings, who grew up between the city of Rome and the Veneto countryside, and found a home in the vineyard and the winery built along the borders of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. There is no wine without grape: this is why grapevines have always been our main focus. We inherit from the family tradition our passion for the environment, the vineyard and the wine. Following his grandfather's footsteps, Ludovico became an agronomist too: he partners with universities and research institutes and was named among the 12 best young farmers by the Italian Department of Agriculture in 2012 ("Nuovi fattori di successo" award). With passion and professionalism we experiment and innovate to achieve a "good, clean and fair" production.
In order to produce top quality wines we grow Grechetto, Violone, Sangiovese e Aleatico, which are all native grapevines to the Tuscia terroir. The only exception is our family varietal, Manzoni Bianco, created in the 1930's by our esteemed ancestor Prof. Luigi Manzoni, a wine pioneer and the headmaster of Conegliano Veneto's oenological institute.
Our explosive wines originate from the eruptions of the volcanic Lake Bolsena, the largest in Europe. Rich volcanic terrains confer minerality and elegant complexity to our wines. These characteristics, specific to volcanic wines, also grant them longevity.
For years we have been members of FIVI, the Independent Winegrowers Italian Federation. We exclusively grow our grapes and bottle our wine. We follow directly all phases of production from vineyard to bottle. We are keepers and promoters of our territory, and we preserve the landscape. We put our money where our mouth is; consumers can visit us on ground, meet us and thus become co-producers by buying responsibly.
We are Certified Organic since 2006. We farm using natural and innovative methods, with no synthetic chemicals. Did you know that agriculture is the third sector most responsible for emissions and climate change?
Trebotti is leader in Italy when it comes to innovation and sustainability. We were among the firsts in the country to measure and certify our wines' carbon footprint, assessing the environmental impact of our production in terms of climate-altering emissions.
Our agriculture is:
+ Circular economy thanks to: the recycling and reutilization of materials with the project Gocce Zero Waste (use of returnable bottles); our own closed-cycle compost (with soil improving, mulching and anti-erosion properties) from waste to resource; over 90% of our total commerce is zero kilometres.
- CO2 emissions thanks to the use of certified organic natural products, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, minimum tillage, grass cover crop, techno eco-friendly grape withering system, ultra-light bottles and the Etruscan cave
- Waste of water: by saving the small amount of drinkable water used to clean the cellar which is phytoremediated and stored in the Biolake.
= carbon neutral, because our farming is capable of zeroing the ratio between CO2 emissions and absorptions.
We are zero impact! Among our sustainable innovations are also: the project 3S Wines Sostenibili-Senza-Solfiti (Sustainable, no added sulphites); the speaking drop-saving labels; the easy-to-differentiate and recycle packaging; all our recyclable prints made of reused natural materials; the CO.ME.F (COmpost, Metano e Funghi da scarto a risorsa) project: compost, methane and mushrooms from waste to resource; Jane the jenny, providing eco-weeding and natural fertilization for our olive grove. Our cellar was rationally and efficiently planned to preserve the environment and the landscape: it is built underground on top of the hill. This way we can save energy thanks to a better thermoregulation and take advantage of gravity in the winemaking process.

Every year we hold the "Biovendemmia" (organic harvesting) day in mid-September. Since our establishment in 2003 we have already welcomed more than 15000 wine tourists from all over the world.
